Description

The Jamaican Tody is an endemic bird of Jamaica and the only species of its genus that can be found on the island.

It is a small bird with a bright green plumage with a long red bill and red throat and a short tail.

Jamaican Todies are generally 9 - 10.80 cm in length. Due to its colouring and size the Jamaican Tody can often be difficult to see.

Jamaican Todies are mostly abundant in woody areas and can be found over a variety of habitats such as Wet, Mesic and Dry Forest as well as Dry Coastal Areas.

Diet

The tody mostly feeds on insects and fruits.
